Dr. Priti Gupta a physiotherapist by education & Shannon Benjamin an IT brain having trained with numerous international trainers, examiners, adjudicators & world champions in Latin American & Ballroom Dances including more than 15 different dance forms the couple have been competing in UK, Hungary, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, etc they are steadily improving with their international rankings.
Their recent visit to Hungary in Sept 2009 also brought them the opportunity to teach internationally.
The duo made history for India by being the first Indian Couple to participate in the International DanceSport Federation World Latin Championship held in Singapore in the year 2006 & at the Indoor Asian Games 2007 with blessings & sponsorships from Mrs.Jaya Bachchan.
Taken by force with the spirit for DanceSport, Shannon and Priti have actively been promoting DanceSport all over India, but particularly in Maharashtra, since they are currently a part of the local governing body - DanceSport Association of Maharashtra which is affiliated with the All India DanceSport Federation.
DanceSport India played a key role in supporting DanceSport Association of Maharashtra (DSAM) at the 1st Maharashtra Open DanceSport Championship in August 2009 with 33 couples participating from the State in Latin American Dances & Salsa along with eminent adjudicators from India & UK. The duo also organized the first State Championship at Chandigarh in 2007 with 22 couples with Chandigarh a taste of DanceSport .
The duo are also trainers at grooming schools for Social Dancing etiquette, Poise &Posture development.
Dr. Gupta apart from being a trained Bharat Natyam & Flamenco dancer has also been featured in the ‘Limca Book of Records’ for being a key participant in the ‘World Longest Dance Party’, dancing non-stop for 55 hours 15 Minutes.
Dr.Gupta is a guest lecturer in Human anatomy & fitness at personal trainers institutes and a practitioner of Dance Therapy with experience of training blind women at an industrial home for blind.
The duo won at the All India Latin Special Competition at the Sansui Boogie Woogie on SONY Television in Jan 2008.
She has also been a part of theatre for a brief period for projects with Mishti Verma, Rajesh Shringarpure, Gunn Nayar, Tom Alter and has been a teacher to Pony Verma & Jennifer Winget.
